52 Weeks of Happy...9/52

Joining in with Jen at little birdie, here are my current happy things. It's a bit of a festive edition, this one.

1. Homemade tree decorations, made by Bella's fair hands and shedding glitter all over the floor as I type.

2. Mince pies. Mmm.

3. The Christmas edition of the Radio Times. It's a bit of a tradition in this house to sit down with a cup of tea and a marker pen and highlight all the things we want to watch over the next few weeks. Of course we wont have time to watch much of anything, and when we do we'll discover that we didn't record it or it's not avaiilable on catch-up tv any longer...but that's not the point. It's traditional!

4. The best Christmas song ever. I wish it was played all year round.

Wishing you all a splendid week. It's very cold here and we've had the most magical, thick frost all day making everything look enchanting.

I posted an almost identical thing re the Radio Times on Tuesday! I never buy it any other time of year but can't imagine Christmas without it! My parents used to buy the TV Times AND the Radio Times...maybe it was because they only advertised their own channels back in the day?

My favourite Christmas song if all time ... Feel as though Christmas can begin once I've heard it! xx

I woke up this morning with Fairytale of New York going round in my head, and proceeded to sing it in the kitchen while making breakfast...without doubt the best Christmas song ever, though if I've had a drink I end up shedding a little tear for Kirsty McColl...I am a soppy bugger. Thanks for the reminder about the Radio Times, and mince pies! Haven't had any yet this year, will buy some from our local bakery tomorrow...twice the price of supermarket ones but at least 3 times as good. xx

I couldn't agree more with number 3. Christmas for me becomes so much more real when the RT is in my home.

its funny how you here christmas songs a thousand times a christmas but they still cheer your soul- i was in one of the department stores and they played wham 'last christmas i gave you my heart...' it was echoing down the floors and i loved that sound- all the little swiss market huts are up and i think it makes the city near me look so much more festive...i love all your decorations- so sweet x

Ah, glitter. Dear teachers, why do you always insist on using glitter on things? When my girls were in nursery school we were part of a school where parents were required to help twice a month. Occasionally Gary would take off from work to go help. Every time he did the "craft" of the day would involve glitter and he would end up having to help supervise 15 kids with glittering and then do the cleanup. He'd be finding bits of glitter in his hair or stuck to his face all the rest of the day. Ugh.

Gillian your posts always make me smile, often - like this one - in recognition of how similar our households must be :-) We too have the festive Radio Times propped open and fully intend every night to stat marking it up (5 'fails' so far!), but have been decidedly more successful in decimating our mince pie supplies - but then that's what big cosy jumpers and opaque tights are for; disguising the lapses in self-control... thanks for your wonderful posts and snapshots into your world; I look forward to them all the time! x
